Location: Buitenkant Street, Cape Town, South Africa

Client: Berg River Boulevard (Pty) Ltd

Project Value: R2 Million

Year of completion: Ongoing

The project’s name and theme were derived from the existing building initially being utilized as a stable in the late 1800’s. The location of the site is perfectly positioned within the City of Cape Town central business district, along a recognized commercial corridor, which stands to reason why the design proposal is to convert this heritage site into a mixed-use commercial building. The intention is to design a modern open plan co-working environment together with serviced offices where start-up firms can grow their business from.

The new development above the existing is designed to separate the new design addition with the old. The existing double storey building is in poor condition and therefore needs to be restored and renovated, keeping in mind of its heritage significance to the city.

A small retail space is located on the ground floor along with a reception area that serves the various office spaces on the floors above. Three boardroom spaces were incorporated into the building on the second and third floors along with a roof garden on the top floor.
